Billie points out that Chris was in a picture at the age of eight on a horse. What does this symbolize in his life?
I think it is ironic because the horse symboled a journey and a wild ride because his life was fool of that and the picture with him and the horse just says in essence that he was in for a "wild Ride".

Why do you think everyone who met Chris felt so upset when they found out he died?
I think everyone who met chris felt so upset about his death because Chris was a very nice person to all of the people that he met. Aonther reason why I think people were upset about his death is the way that they found him in the bus. He had been decomposing in that bus for two weeks or more. the doctors said he weighed sixty some pounds. Chris left the SOS note that was a cry for hellp that could have been disturbing to some people. He might have efficted some of the peoples lives that he had met on his journey.

Why is it so hard for authorities to identify Chris? How do they eventually discover his identity?
It was hard for police to identify McCandless because he was wearing a towing company sweatshirt, yet when contacted they had never heard of Chris. Next authorities thought McCandless was a field biologist because of his journal, but that proved inaccurate also. But later on when the news of the myster hiker's death appeard as front page news, calls came in from all the people McCandless touched on his way to the voyage into alaska. Everyone identified him and that just proves how many lives McCandless touched on his journey to find himself, which ultimately lead to death.

What are the similarities shared between Chris and his father?
In Into the Wild, we see similarities between Chris and his father. After describing Chris's father, Krakauer writes, "There is no mistaking whence Chris's intensity came." We see from this very quote an exact similarity between Chris and his father. Krakauer and others noticed instantly where Chris's enthusiasm and spirit came from. Krakauer also writes, "When Walt(Chris's father) talks, people listen." This is another similarity that we notice. From all the people that Krakauer talked to, they all said that they loved hearing Chris talk and were amazed by what he had to say. We see with these examples that Chris was surely influenced by his father, even though Chris may not have liked his father very much. This shows us how much a father will influence us.

In chapter 10, what is is strange about the clothes Chris was wearing when he died?
Krakauer writes, "When he died, McCandless was wearing a blue sweatshirt printed with the logo of a Santa Barbara towing company; when contacted, the wrecking outfit professed to know nothing about him or how he'd acquired the shirt."(pg. 99)

Billie points out that Chris was in a picture at the age of eight on a horse. What does this symbolize in his life?
I think this is a sign of Chris' life. His life was constantly changing. It also symbolizes his relationship with his father. He didn't always hate his father. His father was the one who taught him what he does best.
I think that the only reason Chris is out is to find his relationship to his father again. He has to contribute in the relationship also. He also may have left to make his father realize what he did wrong.

Why is sit so hard for authorities to identify Chris? How did they eventually find out his identity?
Chris made it very difficult for anyone to trace his identity. Not only did he make a fake name for himself without legalizing it, but he was constantly moving from place to place. The authorities eventually found out McCandless' identity by Jim Gallien, who called the state troopers with advice. "'From the newspaper article, what little information there was, it sounded like the same person,' says Gallien,'so i called the state troopers and said, Hey, I think i gave that guy a ride'"(99). The troopers believe him when thay find his name in McCandless' journal and Gallien is able to tell them that he was from South Dakota.

Why does Krakauer mention specifically the only class McCandless failed in high school?
Krakauer mentions Chris's failing history class to show that he is a hard worker, and that he did the work, but he refused to format the work the way his teacher wanted him to. He stood up for what he thought was right and did what he wanted to do in protest of what he thought was wrong. We can tell from this that Chris is a hard worker, but he can also be kind of an anarcist along with it.
Chris left such an impact on people when they met him because they feel he is truly unique. Chris is truly unique in the fact thst he feels the need to braanch out and find something in life that is greater than clothes, money, cars, and power. He yearns to find the greatness of life in itself. Chris realizes that nature gives people what they need in life. Chris gets a high off tramping into the unknown with very few material items.Chris taught people to look to the inward buety'snot towards material goods that come and go but instead to the things that influence your life and make an impact on you forever. People also enjoy Chris because he is educated and can engage in interesting conversations out various topics.

When authorities find McCandless' body they have a difficult time identifying him because he had no identification with him at the time. Once they identify him after Wayne gives them his information his family is contaced. When Chris' sister's husband tells Carine that they found Chris dead she first says she knows it's not true. this is foolowed by her crying in the fet6al position on her couch for five hours. She finally accepts he is dead, but the book still says she cries on long drives. this shows they had an incredibly close relationship with Chris. Krakauer goes so far as to call the relationship, "uncommonly close", (Krakauer, 129).

Why do you think everyone who met Chris felt so upset when they found out he died?
I feel that Chris had a lasting impact on everyone that he met on his journey. Chris was such a nice person to everyone he met and they all wanted the best for him because they treated him as their own son. He had such a lasting impact on everyone that when they didn't hear from him they were all saddened

In chapter 12, what does Chris get emotional about when he is drinking? Explain the significance of this.
Chris gets really emotional when he was drinking. He gets emotional about the fact that he really often disagreed with his dad, because they would argue. And then Chris tells him he is grateful for all the things that he had done for him. And he has so much respect for how hard his dad was working to support eight kids. With him telling his dad how he felt, it didnt just have an effect on him or his dad it affected everyone that was in the room.

Billie points out that Chris was in a picture at the age of eight on a horse. What does this symbolize in his life?
I think this symbolizes a journey in chris' life. it symbolizes a journey that he may need to take to find himself. A horse is independent and Chris himself is also being independent by going out on his own ay.
